Gwyneth Hulse native timber goodies

We are loving the fabulous New Zealand made goodies by Miss Hulse from KeriKeri!

Native timbers Totora, Rimu and swamp Kauri are the base for her lovely geometric shaped tea light holders, bangles, succulent plant holders and key rings.  All of the wares are lovingly hand cut, sanded, painted with beautiful colours and then the most heavenly earthy smelling wax is applied.

All Gwyneth's designs make for contemporary pieces with a natural touch which will keep you loving them for many years to come. We particularity love the succulent plant holder in store - it looks lovely under a glass dome!

Howdy winter - bring on the warm clothes!

Its that time of the year where all your woollies make their way out of the back of the closet and start making there way closer to the front door for an easy grab on the way out the door.  If you find that you have headed to the back of your closet hoping to find something snazzy, lovely and snug only to find mothball ridden items then take a gander and the winter warmers MFP has in store.

First up is the lovely Californian/NZ designer Arielle Mermin.  Always delighting us with her eclectic designs that are super easy to wear, these warmer garments are just as fabulous.  Team the Weekender Dress [$229] with tights and boots and you're good to go.  This lil grey number will also take you through the Spring months being warm yet breathable cotton sweat-shirting.  If you have a hankering for warmth and sparkle then the Space Jumper [$245] is just the ticket.  Ribbed thick cotton to keep you toasty and more space glam than David Bowie could handle!

Arielle's super stripe cotton Desert Poncho [$245] is a real winner if you are looking for a garment to chuck on, look good but feel like you could be at home in you PJs!  Now all us lassies need a solid merino cardi to reach for.  Belle & Beau designer Claire Shewan has designed just that thank goodness!  The Willow Cardigan [$229] is New Zealand made and certified organic NZ merino so you will be snug as a bug with only the goodness of the merino sheep keeping you toasty.

High Noon Tea designer Sheryl White has mixed the perfect amount of warmth and subtle gold glam for her winter cover ups.  The Frenchie Capelet [$165] is a lovely cape that can be thrown on over a dress for an evening out.  Teamed with jeans or slacks the Abby Jumper [$175] is a little bit casual and a little bit fabulous!

If you are looking for a mega warm coat to keep winters chilly tendrils at bay, Silence Was just the one for you.  The Heroine Coat [$455] is fully lined, has 2 large pockets for hands and great fabric we have dubbed 'glamo' (Camo/Glam).  A little bit lighter but still packs a warm punch around the kidneys where its needed is the Dark Knight Jumper [$249] with a neat sheer chiffon shoulder and warm cotton knit body.

Stay warm and visit soon!

Petite Kitchen 2014 Calendar

Us MFP gals are pretty big fans of the lovely Eleanor of Petite Kitchen.  We stocked her fabulous sell out journal a few months back, we were all sad to hear she would not be publishing another - until she said she was picked up by a publishing house and would be writing a MEGA Petite Kitchen!

But even luckier for us PK lovers, Eleanor has whipped up a bunch of simply gorgeous 2014 calendars.  12 beautifully photographed recipes and all held together with the touch of natural twine - darling!

Check it out here or in store!

New Silence Was... now in store!

Some exciting parcels have been coming through the door of 217 Cuba Street of late. Last week, a box labelled ’20 Unicorns’ turned out to, indeed, have twenty tiny unicorns inside. (It was also probably the most magical box I’ve ever opened in my life. Unicorns!)

This week, fresh from Auckland label Silence Was..., we’ve some stunning additions to our Madam Fancy Pants hangers. Two of these new dresses are also gracing our two window mannequins (I’ve nicknamed them Ava and Marie, just secretly, in my head), who are both looking pretty fancy at the mo.

The magnificently cobalt silk Sheer Long Trench is a head-turner for sure – it’s so elegant! So blue! AND it has pockets. Seriously, so much to love about this one.

The Ivana Drape Long Shirt takes the traditional shirt-dress and gives it a bit of edge with a draping, cut-out back. It recently appeared in the latest Remix magazine, looking fabulous and just a bit mysterious.

And if it’s a bright geometric print you’re after, the vivid diamond patterns of The Comfort Top (left) and Love Fiction Shirt Dress (right) are bold and unique and fun. They are also both really light and lovely to wear, which will be super for the summer.

Summer! Allegedly this is something that will be happening soon, but not today it seems – so if you’re in Wellington, I hope you’re wrapped up dry!

Keep warm, kids.

Xx Jen

MFP's pics for summer dresses!

It is a real stunning day here in lil Wellington today and I have gotten all inspired to start working on my summer outfits.- and you should to because Arielle and High Noon Tea have whipped up some real pearlers for y'all!

Our dress pics from Arielle Mermin are her Hamptons dress with its gorgeous contrasting stripes in dove grey, nude and gold to subtly sparkle when the light hits it.  This dress looks great during the day with simple slip on shoes or perhaps dress it up for an beach wedding with the Mardle gold Lizzie belt.  Stunning!

Another wee number from Arielle is not quite a dress (though it does indeed look like like one!) its ..a playsuit! The Napa playsuit is due any day now, its made of the softest blue cotton fabric with sweet little fabric dot/bobbles all over making it the perfect weekend outfit.  Keep your eyes out for the Napa Playsuit in store soon.

High Noon Tea has gone dotty! Its a pretty on trend look, but then when were spots ever out? never - that's when!  The Hallelujah dress has the most adorable pleated bib detail (with a little leather centre for a bit of toughness!) Designer Sheryl knows us ladies LOVE pockets so she was sure to put some on this number, perhaps for storing the number of that spunky lad (or lass!) you met out at the park on a summery day like today!

Going floral is a perfect choice for a spring wedding, HNT's silk Platinum dress will be winging its way to our hangers in a matter of days.

Do pop on by to try some of our lovely new summer goodies on - its amazing what a gorgeous new dress will do to lift those post winter blues!

If you are not in Wellington don't forget we have a great returns policy on clothes - just in case the fit is not quite right!

Have a beautiful weekend!
