Howdy winter - bring on the warm clothes!

Its that time of the year where all your woollies make their way out of the back of the closet and start making there way closer to the front door for an easy grab on the way out the door.  If you find that you have headed to the back of your closet hoping to find something snazzy, lovely and snug only to find mothball ridden items then take a gander and the winter warmers MFP has in store.

First up is the lovely Californian/NZ designer Arielle Mermin.  Always delighting us with her eclectic designs that are super easy to wear, these warmer garments are just as fabulous.  Team the Weekender Dress [$229] with tights and boots and you're good to go.  This lil grey number will also take you through the Spring months being warm yet breathable cotton sweat-shirting.  If you have a hankering for warmth and sparkle then the Space Jumper [$245] is just the ticket.  Ribbed thick cotton to keep you toasty and more space glam than David Bowie could handle!

Arielle's super stripe cotton Desert Poncho [$245] is a real winner if you are looking for a garment to chuck on, look good but feel like you could be at home in you PJs!  Now all us lassies need a solid merino cardi to reach for.  Belle & Beau designer Claire Shewan has designed just that thank goodness!  The Willow Cardigan [$229] is New Zealand made and certified organic NZ merino so you will be snug as a bug with only the goodness of the merino sheep keeping you toasty.

High Noon Tea designer Sheryl White has mixed the perfect amount of warmth and subtle gold glam for her winter cover ups.  The Frenchie Capelet [$165] is a lovely cape that can be thrown on over a dress for an evening out.  Teamed with jeans or slacks the Abby Jumper [$175] is a little bit casual and a little bit fabulous!

If you are looking for a mega warm coat to keep winters chilly tendrils at bay, Silence Was just the one for you.  The Heroine Coat [$455] is fully lined, has 2 large pockets for hands and great fabric we have dubbed 'glamo' (Camo/Glam).  A little bit lighter but still packs a warm punch around the kidneys where its needed is the Dark Knight Jumper [$249] with a neat sheer chiffon shoulder and warm cotton knit body.

Stay warm and visit soon!

Picks of the Sale!

Hey you lovely lasses and lads! If you haven't yet heard, we're having a massive Summer sale with up to 50% off clothing and other lovely things. Brilliant, hey? With so many things to choose from, I thought I'd go ahead and give you my picks of the sale, just to help you along.

Clothing

It was a pretty tough decision, because I really love all the clothes in our sale, but this stunning Ivana Shirt Dress from Silence Was is my pick from our Summer clothing. Why? It's stylish, smart and classic, can be worn with or without a belt, transitions well into the cooler months and has that cute little back cut out. Bonus, it was $310 and now it's a sweet $200.

Other

I'm not actually a list person, but I do like to pretend that I am. I absolutely adore film (I would love to work as a set designer in the future) and this guy, the Film Listography, has gorgeous illustrations alongside little list idea starters to get the list ball rolling. It would make a great gift for the film buff in your life or just to have it around on your coffee table with a pen so you can use it on those chilled movie nights in at home. Plus save a cool $10, as it's now $25.

Accessories

I absolutely love this Kate of Arcadia bag, and have no idea why it hasn't yet found a home! Especially seeing as it is now only $200 (marked down from $405, oh the savings!). If someone doesn't claim it in the next week, I'm going to have to grab it! It's a stunning little over the shoulder number with soft suede and simple leather detailing. Would go with everything and is just gorgeous. Check it out HERE

Well, that's me with my picks for the sale done and dusted! Hope you all find something beautiful to brighten up the start of your year.

P.S. I know, it wouldn't be one of my posts without a recipe, so check this one out for Otsu and add sliced cherry tomatoes, green kale and some cooked mushrooms and zucchini for a delicious Summer salad. Winning!

New Silence Was... now in store!

Some exciting parcels have been coming through the door of 217 Cuba Street of late. Last week, a box labelled ’20 Unicorns’ turned out to, indeed, have twenty tiny unicorns inside. (It was also probably the most magical box I’ve ever opened in my life. Unicorns!)

This week, fresh from Auckland label Silence Was..., we’ve some stunning additions to our Madam Fancy Pants hangers. Two of these new dresses are also gracing our two window mannequins (I’ve nicknamed them Ava and Marie, just secretly, in my head), who are both looking pretty fancy at the mo.

The magnificently cobalt silk Sheer Long Trench is a head-turner for sure – it’s so elegant! So blue! AND it has pockets. Seriously, so much to love about this one.

The Ivana Drape Long Shirt takes the traditional shirt-dress and gives it a bit of edge with a draping, cut-out back. It recently appeared in the latest Remix magazine, looking fabulous and just a bit mysterious.

And if it’s a bright geometric print you’re after, the vivid diamond patterns of The Comfort Top (left) and Love Fiction Shirt Dress (right) are bold and unique and fun. They are also both really light and lovely to wear, which will be super for the summer.

Summer! Allegedly this is something that will be happening soon, but not today it seems – so if you’re in Wellington, I hope you’re wrapped up dry!

Keep warm, kids.

Xx Jen

Summer Is Here! (Kinda)

Well, the Summer clothing is definitely here and it just keeps coming! Last week we showed off some of Highnoontea's pieces just to make you smile and this week we'll introduce you to two designers who are new to Madame Fancy Pants; Silence Was... and Mardle. We're super excited to be housing their collections this Summer, so check out what we've got in so far- there's more on its way!

Say hello to Mardle; all glitz and glam, but not just for your nights out.

Shiana Weir is the lovely lady behind this stunning label and started out designing men's streetwear but one day made the decision to design clothes she could actually wear herself, which is lucky for us ladies! Mardle is the epitome of fuss free, wearable, elegant clothing and this Summer collection is full of statement dresses that will be perfect for any glamorous party, concert or wedding that you'll inevitably get invited along to in the warmer months.

If you're the kind of gal who likes graphic prints, geometrics, and clothing with a masculine edge then you'll fall in love with Silence Was...

Yujia Wang's pieces are sure to make you feel confident and comfortable. Silence Was... is defined by the touch and feel of the fabric, and the clean, simple cuts. “I think it's putting art into our lives,” Yujia explains. Like a piece of art, garments from this label are designed to be around until time tears them apart. We're falling in love with the relaxed but smart look these pieces will bring to our Summer wardrobes, we hope you'll fall in love with them too!

Because Summer is just around the corner and we've got to make way for some lovely new pieces, we're having a pretty big.......

Woohoo!! Check out what we've got online or pop in to see us to snap yourself up a beautiful dress or a little trinket to ferret away until the Winter chill hits the air once again!

Love a good sale, also love our new clothes! I'm off overseas for a couple of months so you might not hear from me for a while, but definitely keep following along on this blog to find out what's going on here at Madame Fancy Pants; there are so many goodies to come!

I was hoping for a little bit more build up for this announcement, but hey, you guys get to get your hands on these beauties even sooner! We got in just a few of these lovely bags, so be super super quick if you want one wrapped around your body now. The new blue is just stunning, check them all out and the rest of our Status Anxiety collection by clicking HERE.

Friday's Clothing Pick of The Week is this comfy, pretty, warm little number from Celine Rita. Throw on the Bella Sweater with some skinnies, black boots and a chunky necklace. Or wear it over a pretty little party dress to keep you warm at your weekend drinks. The hot pink specks make this jumper a little more dressy than your average throw over, so make sure she's seen worn loud and proud!

Going to a pot luck? Feel like baking something scrumptious but also, kinda, healthy? You should check out the Petite Kitchen Blog. Such amazing, nutritious and delicious recipes; be careful not to get caught drooling on the keyboard. We have a bunch of the Petite Kitchen Winter Journals here at Madame Fancy Pants, and we're loving them, so make sure you get a copy of one of these limited prints if you love the look of Eleanor's blog!

In other Madame Fancy Pants news, we are looking for a lovely lady to fill the place of one of our girls (me!) who's going away overseas for a little bit. Dates are: 16 September - 31 October. 4 days a week (Tue, Wed, Thur, Fri) 11-5 and 11-6 on Fridays. If this sounds like you, and you've got brilliant fashion retail and/or customer service experience, then get in touch with Claire at claire@madamefancypants.com

Happy Friday everyone! Enjoy your weekend!
