iPhone cross stitch'o'rama!

Well howdydo and Happy New Year to you!!

I hope you had a super time either enjoying some stat day off goodness or a rip roaring (possibly very wet!) holiday away or at home chilling.  Myself, Amon (my son) and Gareth (my man) spent some days camping in Taupo, then went up to play some music at a festival in the Coromandel called Prana.  Which would have been SO SO lovely...if the weather was obliging.  Sadly Mrs weather had PMS and other plans for all of us campers hoping for sun.  But we camped on despite torrential rain and managed to get some good times in.  Though it was lovely to come home to clean, dry clothes and a bed that didn't deflate in the night.  Ah camping we love you so!

On my return to MFP my lovely assistant Phoebe ran the store and made it all bright, shiny and clean for my return - Super! Thanks Phoebe, you're star.

Now that I'm back and raring to go for 2012 it was time to get some new goodies out on the almost bare post Christmas shelves.  One of the MOST exciting things I get to share with you is the super dooooper awesome iphone cross stitch kit! yeah!

We have them in 5 colours (pink, blue, purple, black and yellow).  The kit comes with some patterns, needle and 5 threads.  I couldn't wait to take my kit home and start on stitching up a storm (or in my case a bird) on my new case.  i have been cross stitching since I was about 8 years old, from super simple, pretty and fast projects to a huge dragon and castle that took months and I gave to my boyfriend when I was 16 (awwwwww).  I have a few cross stitch books from when I was young and decided to pull em out last night and find myself a wee simple pattern to stitch onto my cover.

I found this super cute wee birdy with musical notes (anyone who has seen my ankles will know this is a theme for me).  I then counted up all the squares to make sure he was gonna fit then I got to stitching (while watching a new episode of Desperate Housewifes...ahh domestic goddess??)  Take a peak at my project below, then come hook yourself up a cover to join in the stitching!

Our Elderly Xmas tree

This tree has probably seen more Christmases than I have! Subsequently it has an appearance not unlike that of a balding parrot...but we do love the old thing! Right down to its plastic faux wood base. Aww.

We have plenty of shiny nic' nacs to get it looking snazzy and classy as it ever was, from little owls and hanging tin birds to teeny mushrooms and shiny strawberries and more. Swing by the shop and decorate your tree to match this dapper oldie in time for Christmas! xxx

Surface too Deep - just in time for summer!

Summer is on its merry hot way so its time to start sorting out your new bathing wear/swimmers/cozzie/togs/bathers/bikini - well what ever y'all want to call it!

This summer we are super excited to be stocking the beautiful Surface too Deep swimwear designed by the lovely Wellington lass Esther Bryant-Lindsay.  All the swimmers are limited runs of the highest quality and made from Italian Lycra printed in Australia which is exclusive to Surface too Deep.

We have 3 different styles available and 2 colour-ways, essential black and the divine Lilac Nights.  The Goddess Wrap is a stunner one piece with cross over open back and subtle side cut outs.  Now when it comes to bikinis I'm a fan of high waisted pants, panties AND swimmers so these Birds Fly high waisted bloomers are a mega hit in my book!  There is also bow across the back for the cute factor (and the help distract from any derrière issues one may have!).  There is a choice of 2 different tops to go with your new high waisted bloomers...the Goddess Wrap tank which can be worn 3 different ways! (winning!) as a halter, a bandeau, and as a shouldered tie front - us girls do love versatility.  The other bikini top is the Pixie Staple which can be worn 2 ways twisted for a more triangle bikini or un-twisted for a crop top look.  They also come with a nifty zip up clear plastic bag to store'em in when they are wet! handeeeee!

Goddess Wrap One Piece - $267 (avail in black & lilac night)

Pixie Staple Top - $127 (avail in black & lilac night)

Birds Fly High Bloomer - $105 (avail in black & lilac night)

Stationary + Gents + Christmas + Design Sponge.

Oh my! Its getting exciting around MFP with packages arriving daily.  Last week all our gorgeous Christmas Cards and advent calenders arrived.  Today a bunch of lovely journals, books and stationary was un boxed.

A favourite illustrator at Madame Fancy Pants is Susie Ghahremani, this neat journal is filled with her whimsical drawings of owls, birds and squirrels and waiting to be accompanied by your ideas and musings.  Another exciting unpack was this Cant sleep, write now journal which has ideas for writing and places to write random thoughts for those who find it hard to drift off of wake up with brain a buzzing.  And if you're a sweet fiend like myself then you will be DROOLING over the yummy recipes that are tucked up inside The Chocolate Deck and The Cupcakes decks boxes.  YUM!  For the lads who want to be gents The Perfectly Dressed Gentleman could be his perfect companion.  When to wear a suit? What kind of neck tie when? and lots of interesting and funny facts about menswear....did you know that merino can bend on itself 20,000 times where cotton can only bend 3,200....?!

My last super exciting goody that was unpacked this morning was the AMAZING Design Sponge at Home book.  I have been an avid reader/follower of Miss Grace Bonney's truly super blog for many years (and even had one of my wee projects featured - EXCITE!!!) and now am pretty darn happy to see the many years of great home design, DIY, home hints, flowery arranging and before and afters (my fave!) filling one handy dandy book...I know whos getting this for Christmas this year!

Speaking of Christmas, its 7 weeks away! yup thats kinda soon eh?

My challenge to you is to start thinking about Christmas, what it means to you, who you want to spend it with, what you NEED to eat on Christmas day (I HAVE to have custard from a box..you know the stuff..mnn) and who you want to give gifts to.  Gift giving should be thought about carefully, so start looking out for goodies for those special folk in your life.  Gifts need not be expensive, some may be home made, remember that its more special for you AND the giftee when given from the heart and certainly not rushed!

Hold'em tight Mr Wallet.

A wallet is so much more than a thing that holds you cash.  It says just a little something about you, is it tidy? is it compact? is it a wallet with every card under the sun in it? does it have pictures of loved ones ready to whip out at any moment? is it so packed full of receipts and random acquired bits'n'bobs you simply cant shut it? (Yes George I'm talking to you!).

I go between wallets, at the moment its just a small one that carries change, notes and cards.  A few years ago I had what I refer to as 'the mums wallet' its was BIG and had numerous compartments for all the Mitre 10, library, bonus, coffee and one cards it could handle.  But I'm feeling the need for a wee upgrade, a bit more room not quite a 'mum wallet' but something in-between.  Luckily Status Anxiety have come to my rescue.

With wallets to fit all the cards (The Audrey has 3 folds to tuck'em away till you need'em) I am leaning towards the Dakota.  She is a fold over lush leather wallet with well enough room for my everyday cards, zippy compartment for all my jangles and a few hidey slots for random receipts.  But then...I am also so very tempted by the Phoebe purse....she has the loveliest floral lining, 2 kiss clasp compartments AND wait...yes....large enough to hold you fancy shmancy iphone'a'roo! ya hoo!

These beauties come in a range of colours...tan, black, stone, purple, pink, a pretty pretty powder blue and good old red.  Winning!

New wallet here I come!
