WATCH: Alien Earth

Or maybe don't...Ok I finished this a few weeks ago. I LOVE SIFI... the Alien series, the creepy, the space, the space cat, the Sigourney. I had high hope for this series as it also had cyborgs - which I think are fascinating. But - I feel this series failed to take it to the places it could have.

It tried. There were cyborgs (cool), suspense (ish), and plenty of “WHY ARE YOU GOING IN THERE, SUSAN???” moments... which I know is part of the genre, but this lot were taking the scenic route through Stupidville. The character development was as deep as a saucer of milk and I kept waiting for it to get weirder, darker, or at least mildly unhinged. Alas. I was left - annoyed!

SO - if you have time to spare and you love SIFI and 90s rock music (this features which is great - but also kinda out of place) then get into it.

LISTEN: Laneway 2026 playlist

I'm AWFUL at remembering names of bands, songs, movies...well you name it - If a memory doesn’t tattoo itself onto my emotional core, it evaporates.. When the Laneway line up was released in 2024, I have only heard of a few of the acts but did that stop me buying tickets? Absolutely not. I love a festival and I’m committed to pretending I’m still 27 inside. F O R E V E R

Cue 2026 lineup: Chappell? Yes, hi, love her, can hum the harmonies and lip sync like Rue. The rest? Not a clue. But once again, I chucked the playlist on and suddenly I’m 10 outta10 like a cool aunt with insider knowledge and a tote bag full of snacks. My brain may not do names, but my ears? They’re out here living their best life. This year - also a FEM FEST! Ya we on it!

Conclusion: I am still young, relevant, and accidentally across pop culture (also it helps having gay popboy besties) Suck it, ageing process.
